Just Watched: My Name Is Khan
After hearing so many good things about this film, especially from people like Vishnu and Zehaan, I finally went to watch it with Stuti, Shruti and Rohan (Thomas). While I do agree that the film makes for very good viewing, it failed to rise above the multi-starrer entertainer it ended up being, given its interesting plot. The problem was that Karan Johar, with this film, tries to tug at your heart so that you express your emotions, something which Stuti did whole-heartedly over the course of the film. The film combines the elements of a love story with a message-oriented theme.
What adds to the enjoyment is the performance of Shah Rukh Khan, as someone suffering from a disorder. He gets the character just right. His body language and expressions are fabulous, although a tad monotonous at times. Kajol too, is wonderful, as she retains her usual charm. Jimmy Shergill, as Shah Rukh’s younger brother, gives a good performance too, in the limited screen time he has.
The film is very good, but not the great piece of cinema it could have been. Watch it for the wonderful performances by the lead pair and some really good music by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.
